Gardening
Yesterday was a beautiful day outside. It was still a little chilly in the morning, but by the afternoon it was pretty nice. Tom worked outside on clearing the back area and turning it into our garden. There is a before and after picture below. It's not really a good before picture as it was taken after about 4 or 5 hours of work of hauling away trash and clearing branches and other stuff away. He got quite a bit cleared in about an hour. :) You can see the concrete outline of where a garden used to be. Once you get all the debris and weeds cleared, the soil is wonderful and hopefully will grow some great produce for us! We're not sure what to do with all of the trash that has been dumped there, so for now it's one the side of the house out of view, in a very large box (the box Sage's ride-on Hummer came in for Christmas). I think we can get rid of the large wood pieces and branches if we just keep filling our yard waste container each week. Eventually it will all be gone. But the trash . . . ?
Over the past couple weeks, I've been working on the flower beds in our back yard and yesterday, Sage and I planted wild flower seeds out there and I pulled some more weeds between rocks in the little walkway.
We were also able to borrow a blower and weed eater to try and start clearing the weeds out of our front yard. There's no landscaping on a big part of it, so we're going to have to figure out what to do with it. Maybe some wood chips (a lot of them). We'll see . . .
Since we were outside and the sun was shining, we had a picnic dinner. (And because Molly was too dirty to take inside and put anywhere but the bath tub!) The meal was amazing and I'm so proud of us . . . we made everything, from the fries to the hamburger buns. We even ground the beef for the burgers (which is 10,000,000 times better than we've been able to find in the store). We did not grow the zucchini, potatoes or tomatoes, but we'll work on that. It was really great food. I love a good burger!!
Notice how dirty Molly is? She was pretty wet too, as she had been playing at the water table and then dumped a few buckets of water on herself. These are her outside play pants . . . they didn't come clean last time and definitely won't this time. :)

What a fun day for a picnic dinner. Burgers are Tyler's favorite and it won't be long until we can have picnics outside too. For now the sun might be shining but there is still snow and the highs are only in the 40's - Molly looks like she had fun outside in the dirt. We are so excited for your new little girl. Three girls will be so fun - I love having all sisters :)
